K9 LEGAL SEMINAR

The United States Police Canine Association along with the Wilmington Police Department will be hosting a K-9 Legal Seminar at the Wilmington Police Department Training Facility located at 3100 Hurst Street Wilmington NC 28401.  The training dates will be November 17 and 18th 2022.  This training seminar is NOT just for USPCA members, please invite other K-9 handlers in your surrounding area to attend this event. 

As we are all aware, K-9's are a high liability for any agency and no matter who an agency certifies with their actions in their perspective agencies can have an impact on everyone.  For any Non-member of the United States Police Canine Association wanting to become a member can do so at this training FREE of charge.  Following this training event, there will be a National Recognized Detection Certification announced at a later date for those new members that joined.  The topics listed below will be covered during this training seminar:  

Our Canine Legal Updates and Opinions Seminars provide current and relevant jurisdictional specific instruction relating to the United States Court of Appeals – 4th Circuit and the State of North Carolina including: • Accepted United States police K9 industry standards (training, certification, and deployment) • Federal law (statutory and case law) • State law (statutory and case law) • Handler compensation issues • Best practice agency policy • Students will be tested on their knowledge and retention prior to and after instruction. • A certificate of completion will be provided.
